Joseph Lax
Joseph Lax is the founder and President of DB Directions, a company specializing in all aspects of database administration, architecture & design, and implementation. Joe has spent the last twelve years managing the data structures of his clients including providing expertise on performance optimization, test design, and backup / recovery strategies. He has managed mission critical systems for banks, telecommunication firms, and manufacturing companies.
Clients range in size and include large firms such as Citibank Corporation, Remarketing Services of America, a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler at the time and now part of FiServ (automotive leasing and mortgage banking services); GoAmerica (wireless telecommunications); Austin Nichols, a subsidiary of Ricard Pernod (international liquor distribution); as well as smaller organizations such as Community Playthings (children’s’ playground and therapeutic equipment manufacturer) and Track Data Corporation (a provider of financial services and applications for traders).
Joe has published a variety of articles in Visual Basic Programmer's Journal and shares his knowledge of SQL Server online at the Fawcett Publications SQL Website, www.devx.com, where he is the “SQL Server Pro.” He speaks at conferences and user groups as well as writes and delivers training classes on SQL Server (Joe is the co-founder of the NYC Metro SQL Server User Group).
Mr. Lax has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Brooklyn College. In 2006 Joseph was selected as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional and he is a certified MCSE.

HILARY COTTER
Hilary Cotter has been involved in IT for more than 20 years as a web and database consultant in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He was recognized by Microsoft in 2001 with the Microsoft SQL Server MVP award.
Hilary has provided his database expertise to organizations such as Microsoft, Merrill Lynch, UBS-Paine Webber, MetLife, VoiceStream, Tiffany & Co., Pacific Bell, Cahners, Novartis, Petro-Canada, and Johnson & Johnson.
He has written two books on SQL Server. The first, "A Guide to SQL Server 2000 Transactional and Snapshot Replication", has already been published, and the second, a companion volume on "Merge Replication" is in the works for 2005.
Mr. Cotter received his Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of Toronto, and subsequently studied economics at the University of Calgary and Computer Science at the University of California at Berkeley.
DREW GEORGOPULOS
Drew Georgopulos has been a database architect for over 30 years. His client list includes public and private sector organizations of various sizes such as Public Entity Risk Management, the University of California, Municipal Excess Liability Funds of the State of New Jersey, 3M, Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, Ryan Health Care Network, Rifton Aviation, GoAmerica (wireless telecommunication), and Peregrine Software (telecommunications software development).
He has written articles for a variety of database publications and contributes to “Ten Minute Solutions,” a monthly SQL Server column on the Fawcett Publications SQL Server website, www.devx.com. He has served as an Adjunct Professor Computer Science at Fordham University and is an Academic Member of the World Wide Institute of Software Architects. He speaks regularly at conferences and user groups including the SQL Connections Conference, the NYC Professional Association of Database Developers (NYPADD), and the New Jersey Fox Pro Users Group.
His certifications include MCSD, SQL Server Administration, Designing High Performance Database Systems, MCP Requirements Gathering, Technical Writing, VFP, and WOSA 1 & 2.
Mr. Georgopulos holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University, a Certificate in Relation Database System Design from Columbia University, and is completing his Masters Degree in CIS from Iona College.
